  1. Q-DUC - Question, Document, Understand, Create

FIRST DO THE FORM IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY!!!

https://forms.gle/Gwvs8rAq8Aw5DpNE9

Time to get some ideas down for your independent learning project!

These are just examples, not a list to just pick from! If it doesn’t really fire up your curiosity, it’s no good for you.

You might choose:

  • An Artform you want to really understand

    • Dance styles

    • Animation

    • Knitting

    • Architecture

    • Nature Photography

  • Science

    • Space exploration

    • Astronomy

    • Toxic plants

    • Navigation

  • History

    • A war that shaped the world

    • Laws and Rights

    • Justice for Minorities

    • Religions and Philosophies of the world

My Q-DUC idea for now

3 questions I have about my subject (start pretty general!)

  1. PE - Own Choice

I did:

  1. Art: Start something that will take more than one session! Not all art gets done ‘today’, right??

What did you start?

How far did you get? Planned it out? Sketched it out? ?

  1. Drawing Math Pictures 2.0 - It’s about turning the words into a diagram

Able, Baker, and Charlie are playing tag. Able is faster than Baker, who’s faster than Charlie. All three of them start at the picnic table, and Able is “it.” For a head start, Baker runs north and Charlie runs south. After the head start, Able starts chasing either Baker or Charlie. The game ends when Able has tagged both Baker and Charlie. If Baker and Charlie maintain their speeds and directions, who should Able chase first to minimize the time required to make the second tag?

(Able wants to end the game fastest. Who should he chase first??)

  • Draw the Diagram

  • Think about it

  • Ask an adult if you can

  • Hint: Distance is Speed x Time

  • YOU DON’T NEED TO SOLVE THIS!!

My Diagram

  1. Chapter 7: Wait for it!

What do you think of Philosopher’s Stone so far?

(2 complete sentences, please)

7. Learning Cafe Menu:

-Please do 20 minutes of Khan unless you’re doing Mrs. Suderman’s math.

-Typing.com

-Code.org or Makecode Arcade

-Put cool stuff on your Google Site

Tag Question Solution - Ignore this

Let a, b, and c be the respective speeds of Able, Baker, and Charlie, and let x and y be the times required for Able to catch the first and second person. If Able chases Baker first, then

\displaystyle x=\frac{bT}{a-b} \ \mathrm{and} \ y=\frac{aT(b+c)}{\left ( a-c \right )\left ( a-b \right )}

If Able chases Charlie first, then

\displaystyle x=\frac{cT}{a-c} \ \mathrm{and} \ y=\frac{aT(b+c)}{\left ( a-c \right )\left ( a-b \right )}

“Since both y’s are equal, the x’s show that the least time will elapse when Able chases ####  first.”

See? I told you it wasn’t about the solution! There’s got to be a better way to solve this....

The Home Stretch

Wow- this has gone really fast and kinda slow at the same time. To paraphrase a friend of mine, "Time is sorta sticky this year!"...
